So instead of the normal YACHT ROCK SUNDAY!!! format, where I talk about how smooth the song is and how it could relate to sailing, I've opted to do some shameless self promotion. I'm playing Yacht Rock tonight at a pizza place... "What? A pizza place?" you say... Well I can't think of a better way for us land locked Austinites to listen to yacht rock than gathered around gods gift to man. A perfect circle of awesome and the perfect sound of smooth will clash tonight.. 9 to 11:30 @ Mellow Mushroom be thuuuurrr!!!
Oh, and Ride Captain Ride is smooth, so it's not like I'm leaving you hanging with a half assed YRS!!! post.
Sup TFFKRWDR's! Sorry I was void last week. Got a little caught up in things, but back..even though a late evening post.
Today I bring a tune from a man named Slugabed. This dudes sluggish hip-hop rhythms and nintendo bleeped sythns sit somewhere between a Flying Lotus-esque, Joker-esque zone! Eclectic enough to earn attention of IDM bass connoisseur Planet Mu. Here's a tune from his Ultra Heat Treated 12" EP
Welcome back to Tech Tuesdays, I know it's your favorite day of the week! We got a scorchin' minimal work out here today. Just picked this one up and am happy to share it with you. The production is so clean, and who doesn't like lots of hand claps in a track? I know I sure do! Well, you'll get plenty of em in this one, enjoy!
thumpin kick snare combo, electrified dirty synth, beat stuttering like a mf, plus indie pop hit 'WE WON'T STOP by BARRETSO' make this new KOLT13 remix HYPE material. This is your www.tffkrwd.com & www.hypersonicradio.com HYPE track of the week. LISTEN to it here now, and check it out in this weeks broadcast of HYPERSONIC RADIO airing 02/27/2010 from 10pm-12am on 101X/101.5fm & www.hypersonicradio.com.
Sorry about last week, problem with Safari. I don't think I Keep Forgettin' ended up getting posted, but that song is so amazing that it deserves it's own post... With an extended disco mix of the song.
Anyways, this week's dose of smooth comes from Jersey's very own Looking Glass. Before there was beat beating and douche-bagginess all along the shore, there was smooth. I'm choosing this song this week because when I was djing at music gym a friend and I started shouting the lyrics at each other during the storm of electro. We were like the eye of the Hurricane.
CRYPTONITES are back with a funky ass remix of indie rock track 'DELPHIC - DOUBT'. this song hit me like an arrow through the heart... loving the 80'sish synth chords and the super fat bass lines. it was a TFF choice between this and another track, but this one won by democracy. This is your www.tffkrwd.com & www.hypersonicradio.com HYPE track of the week. LISTEN to it here now, and check it out in this weeks broadcast of HYPERSONIC RADIO airing 02/20/2010 from 10pm-12am on 101X/101.5fm & www.hypersonicradio.com.
Keeping it deep and moody on this one, Hamburg's Stimming comes correct with this, my favorite cut of his recent album, Reflections.
With releases on Audiomatique, Buzzin' Fly and his own, Diynamic Records, Stimming has established himself as one to watch in the coming year. And, along with label mate, Solomun, he's making a calculated effort to capture my heart.
It's Valentines Day which means we as a nation are split up into 3 camps, the Heartbroken, the loved, and the I don't give a fuck I just wanna fuck. Well I've got you all covered with the smooth.
For those who's most recent relationship I have selected the Michael McDonald classic "I Keep Forgettin'". FACT: Singing in the key of McDonald helps cure heartache. SRSLY. Here's to smoother waters in in the 010.
For those who are in love I have selected Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams" because I want your relationship to last as long as Hall & Oates has. Stay the course.
And for those of you who are going to take advantage of other's loneliness so you can get your o-face on I have selected Kenny Loggins rockin' anthem "Danger Zone". Remember it's dangerous out there, be sure to use protection to keep your future waters smooth.
def feeling this track. latest one from mr. FELIX CARTAL, who has been very busy producing killer music frequently and consistently while touring the world with MSTRKRFT. This is your www.tffkrwd.com & www.hypersonicradio.com HYPE track of the week. LISTEN to it here now, and check it out in this weeks broadcast of HYPERSONIC RADIO airing 02/13/2010 from 10pm-12am on 101X/101.5fm & www.hypersonicradio.com.
A little change of pace for the KRWD, I'm sure, but I just discovered some wonderfully good wintertime jams.
The Flying Change is Sam Jacobs and his horde of folk rockers from the icy reaches on New York State. Haven't had much time to absorb their album, Pain Is A Reliable Signal, but these two live covers of some of my most beloved LCD Soundsystem tunes have been on repeat for me all day long.

Heya folks! Time for another installment of that booty jiggle music! Today I bring to you Jahcoozi. A multi-national trio based out of Berlin, Germany that consists of Sri-Lanken MC Sasha Perera, Israeli bass sound-tech Oren Gerlitz and German producer Robot Koch (someones production I've been fond of, which turned me on to the group in the first place). Their melting pot of culture, I'm sure, lends hand to a unique blend of pop, dancehall, dubstep, hip-hop and other forms of dance into their music. On certain tunes, Sasha's vocals can bring to mind reminisces of M.I.A, but the group is still able to carve a distinctive style which stands on it's own. The group has made a name for themselves within Berlin's underground via their live performances. Be on the look out for an EP Due Out April 19th on Ellen Allien's Imprint, Bpitch Control. I leave you here with a video from their Namedropper EP out now on Batty Bass Records and a medley from their upcoming album entitled 'Barefoot Wander'.
Back again for you weekly dose of Tech? Today, we're keeping it stateside with one of my favorite producers as of late, Worthy. One fourth of the Dirty Bird Records crew, head honcho over at Anabatic Records and globetrotting party rocker... this guy does it all.
The tune up for grabs is the self-titled cut off his most recent EP, "Eight Yay Eight." The tune sounds suspiciouly like Claude Von Stroke's superb, "Big N Round," but I can't deny that it gets me moving. If you got that other CVS tune, you might try mixing em together... I've gotten some interesting textures out of one such blend.
This nice remix comes from DJ 0045 and its of local AUSTIN electro/thrash band POSR. this band is amazing! finally got a chance to see these guys live and they blew me away. highly recommend you check out these guys more than once, and if you dont live in austin, texas dont stress because they will be in a city near you very soon.
Believe it or not I actually had a request for this song. Christopher Cross who's Sailing is the end all be all of yacht rock teamed up with the incredible Michael McDonald to bring us this smooth jam about an outlaw on the run, who's gotta ride... Ride like the wind... I like to think he makes it to Mexico, buys a captain's hat, some sunglasses, a yacht and throws back nothing but smooth boat drinks.
The smoothness on this one goes all the way to 11, play it loud.

First up, we got a deep and dark, moody mover by someone that is very new to me; He goes by the name of AHMET SISMAN and the tune is called "MOVE." This one is a stomper for me, I absolutely love this tune and be on the look out for that vocal sample around 3 minutes... can you spot it?
Also, ALL tunes posted for Tech Tuesdays will be encoded in 128kbps. This series is ment to educate and inform, so, if you like the tunes, you find yourself jammin' them or puttin' them in a mix... buy the tune!
