Tech Tuesdays : Stimming

Keeping it deep and moody on this one, Hamburg's Stimming comes correct with this, my favorite cut of his recent album, Reflections.

With releases on Audiomatique, Buzzin' Fly and his own, Diynamic Records, Stimming has established himself as one to watch in the coming year. And, along with label mate, Solomun, he's making a calculated effort to capture my heart.

YACHT ROCK SUNDAY!!! VA-DAY DAY EDITION!!!

It's Valentines Day which means we as a nation are split up into 3 camps, the Heartbroken, the loved, and the I don't give a fuck I just wanna fuck. Well I've got you all covered with the smooth.

For those who's most recent relationship I have selected the Michael McDonald classic "I Keep Forgettin'". FACT: Singing in the key of McDonald helps cure heartache. SRSLY. Here's to smoother waters in in the 010.

For those who are in love I have selected Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams" because I want your relationship to last as long as Hall & Oates has. Stay the course.

And for those of you who are going to take advantage of other's loneliness so you can get your o-face on I have selected Kenny Loggins rockin' anthem "Danger Zone". Remember it's dangerous out there, be sure to use protection to keep your future waters smooth.

If you haven't heard...

A little change of pace for the KRWD, I'm sure, but I just discovered some wonderfully good wintertime jams.

The Flying Change is Sam Jacobs and his horde of folk rockers from the icy reaches on New York State. Haven't had much time to absorb their album, Pain Is A Reliable Signal, but these two live covers of some of my most beloved LCD Soundsystem tunes have been on repeat for me all day long.

Wobble Wednesday: Jahcoozi

Heya folks! Time for another installment of that booty jiggle music! Today I bring to you Jahcoozi. A multi-national trio based out of Berlin, Germany that consists of Sri-Lanken MC Sasha Perera, Israeli bass sound-tech Oren Gerlitz and German producer Robot Koch (someones production I've been fond of, which turned me on to the group in the first place). Their melting pot of culture, I'm sure, lends hand to a unique blend of pop, dancehall, dubstep, hip-hop and other forms of dance into their music. On certain tunes, Sasha's vocals can bring to mind reminisces of M.I.A, but the group is still able to carve a distinctive style which stands on it's own. The group has made a name for themselves within Berlin's underground via their live performances.
Be on the look out for an EP Due Out April 19th on Ellen Allien's Imprint, Bpitch Control. I leave you here with a video from their Namedropper EP out now on Batty Bass Records and a medley from their upcoming album entitled 'Barefoot Wander'.

Tech Tuesdays : Worthy

Back again for you weekly dose of Tech? Today, we're keeping it stateside with one of my favorite producers as of late, Worthy. One fourth of the Dirty Bird Records crew, head honcho over at Anabatic Records and globetrotting party rocker... this guy does it all.

The tune up for grabs is the self-titled cut off his most recent EP, "Eight Yay Eight." The tune sounds suspiciouly like Claude Von Stroke's superb, "Big N Round," but I can't deny that it gets me moving. If you got that other CVS tune, you might try mixing em together... I've gotten some interesting textures out of one such blend.
